The music that has been chosen to be used throughout our opening sequence, have been selected to present how the character Jake is feeling at the moment in time of different scenes. Most of the sounds we had chosen were non diegetic which means that the character cannot hear the sound, only the audience can. The sounds were mainly tense, slow paced soundtracks that were used to increase tension in the scenes, these were apart of typical thriller codes and conventions therefore the sounds had worked with the scenes. An example of a soundtrack that increased suspense and tension would be the CCTV footage scene were the soundtrack Pressure was used, the sound was flowing with the tempo of the actor which meant that the tension was building up gradually rather than building up faster than the footage. At the beginning of the sequence we had chosen to use a slow paced, jumpy instrumental to signify to the audience that the production was going to be an extraordinary production. The use of diegetic sound added to the tension as we had used heartbeats and heavy breathing to create a suspenseful atmosphere, as we did not have much dialogue we had used the diegetic sound to fill in for the lack of dialogue. By the end of the opening sequence we had used a bang to signify that Jake had struck himself with the hammer and the chisel, we had chosen to used sound after the recording had finished to inform the audience that something had happened, instead of letting the sequence end on a cliff hanger.
