The aim of this task is to understand the structure of the 12

Bar Blues through performance. Each section of the Blues lasts


for 12 bars what happens in that 12 bar structure?

The

Chords
Not so confident: Try playing just the first
two notes using both hands
Confident: Play three fingered chords
Really Confident: Add a swing style drum beat
at about 80bpm. Play the chords with just your
right hand and with your left hand play the
first note of the chord (called the root).
Really, Really Confident: Try the sequence in a
different key by starting with the chord of G

Level 4 Two/three fingered chords using the chord sequence

Confident

Level 5 Three fingered chords with a swing backing beat

B = Mainly

Level 6 Chord sequence played with Chords in the right hand and the left
hand playing a bass note
Level 7 You can play the chord sequence with two hands, you come up
with an imaginative way of playing the chords and the left hand is doing
something interesting. You may use 7th chords and/or a boogie woogie bass
line.
