STORAGE OF STAINLESS STEEL AND NON-FERROUS ELECTRODES

6.3.1 Prior to use, all electrodes shall be baked at temperature between 120 deg c and 250
deg c for a minimum of 2 hours. This baking may be waived if the electrodes are supplied
in the dried condition hermetically sealed metal containers.
6.3.2 After baking the electrodes shall be held in holding ovens at a temperature of 120
deg c minimum.
6.3.3 Upon removal from holding ovens, the electrodes may be held in open air for a
period of up to 4 hours or for a period of up to 8 hours in portable heating quivers held at
a temperature of at least 65 deg c.
6.3.4 Electrodes exposed to the atmosphere for periods less than maximum permitted,
shall be returned to the holding oven.
6.3.5 Any exposure to the atmosphere will necessitate re-drying. Electrodes may be redried only once after exposure to the atmosphere.
