* These electrodes to be stored in a warm, dry container. Oven not


to be used. If electrodes become discolored then discard.

1 Low hydrogen (EXX15, EXX16, EXX18), and stainless steel coated


electrodes shall be purchased and stored in hermetically sealed
containers. Immediately upon opening they shall be placed in
heated storage per above discribed Table.

2 SFA/AWS SFA 5.1 low hydrogen electrodes of E7018 classification


having "R", "H4R", "H8R", "H16R" or M suffix may be issued in non
heated containers or leather pouches for a 9 hour maximum issue
time. (i.e., E7018R, E7018H4R, E7018H8R, E7018H16R, E7018M).
Electrodes not marked with R, H4R, H8R, H16R, or M suffix
designation but purchased with a certificate of compliance stating
the electrodes have been tested and meet the low moisture requirements
of ASME SFA 5.1 for R, H4R, H8R, H16R, or M designator requirements
may be issued as noted above for a 9 hour maximum issue time.
E7018 electrodes without the above imprinted designators or
certificates of compliance and all other low hydrogen electrodes shall
be issued as required in the paragraph below.

3 Low-hydrogen, stainless steel, and nickel base alloy coated electrodes


shall be issued in a portable heated container maintained at minimum
temperature of 150F. Issue time shall be a maximum of 12 hours.
Alternatively, issuance may be made in a nonheated container (i.e.,
rod pouch) for a maximum of 4 hours.

4 All filler materials shall be returned to the point of issue at the end of
each shift and prior to lapse of the issue time allowed paragraph 2 and
3 above.

5 Undamaged coated electrodes may be returned to the storage oven


provided the are within the allowed issued times noted above. After
returning, electrodes shall remain in the storage oven 4 hours minimum.
