TO: SHANNON GILLIGAN FROM: SUBJECT: SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS DATE: MRS. R. JELLINCK, MRS. L. BROPHY CC: I am writing you this to explain to you some of the things that could be improved in our school. I believe that school dances, a later starting time, and a greater friendship building activities would improve the school greatly, and here are some reasons why.
I believe that we should have dances at Governor Simcoe for it
would bring kids of all grades together, and it would be a great way to see your peers outside of school. Dances would be fun way to get together and could potentially raise funds that could go towards other improvements in the school. Its an easy and active way to get the school together and it is something that we can look forward to in the school year.
Another improvement that could benefit our school community
is a later starting time. Since we start school at 8:10am, some students may not be able to focus for the first period or two. Since we are worried about being late, we may miss breakfast in the rush. Getting enough sleep at night is important and with students having to focus on school, extracurricular activities, sports, family, friends, homework, and still having enough time to enjoy life, they may not be
able to go to bed very early, which adding in the possible lack of
nutrition due to breakfast being missed, would result in loss of concentration and work not being done to the best of their ability.
The last improvement I am going to touch on is having more
school bounding days or activities. Since Simcoe goes grade 9-12, it would be good to have students of all ages interact and build healthy relationships with other students throughout the school. If the student participated in these activities it would want them to participate in school activities and clubs more if they knew more people throughout the school. It would make school a more enjoyable place to be, and the four (or more) years more enjoyable if everyone had a pleasant time being here and had more friendships with different students throughout the school.
High school may be a scary or hard place to be, but is some of
the most important years of our lives for it has a difference in what we do throughout our lives. It is important to enjoy our school community and have fun being here. That is why I believe school dances, a later starting time, and more school building activities are an important improvement to improving the students at Simcoes experience in high school and allowing everyone to enjoy being here.
