the following Elements and Principles of art.
1. Colour the emphasis on this photo shot is colour.
2. Texture - the emphasis on this photo shot is texture. Look at
the variety of surfaces around you.
3. Line the emphasis on this photo shot is line. The line could
be wavy, straight, diagonal, zigzag, radial etc.
4. Shape the emphasis on this photo shot is shape. Look at the
many shapes around you. Are they geometric or organic? Do
you want to include more than one shape in your photo?
5. Pattern the emphasis on this photo is pattern. Is it a single
pattern? Is it a repetitive pattern? Is the pattern made up of
lines or colour or shape?
Please think about the whole composition not just an isolated part of
your photo.
The photos can be of natural or manmade objects. These photos
must be taken by you, not from another resource, i.e. internet, etc.

You are required to submit your best photo for each category: colour,
texture, line, shape and pattern. (That is 5 photos in total.)
You must write your name, class and category, and a short description for
which you want your photo to go in. The description must include:
what type of line/s?, what colour scheme/s?, what shapes or patterns
are shown? You can also include the principles of art in your
description as well. Is there balance, if so how?, is there a sense of
movement, how is this achieved? Is there any contrast? How is the
contrast createdsize difference, a particular colour or shape or
texture? Where is the emphasis in this photo? Is there a sense of
unity? If so how? Describe the texture. How is space utilised between
the object and background.

Each photo needs printed out (on a A4 WORD DOCUMENT)

approximately 8 x 6 with the description typed underneath. These
5 A4 sheets will be collected by your art teacher 1 week after your
spring excursion.
