TRANSDUCERS:

- Humidity Transducers
- Pressure Transducers
- Hall Effect Transducers
Industrial Electronics: ECE 422
By: Carrillo,Divino,Micolob

Definition:
It is an electronic device that converts energy from one
form to another.
Energy types include electrical, mechanical,
electromagnetic , chemical, acoustic and thermal
energy, etc.

Transducer
Common examples include microphones, loudspeakers,
thermometers, position and pressure sensors,
andantenna.
It implies the use of a sensor/detector, any device which
converts energy can be considered a transducer.

Transducer
Efficiency is an important consideration in any transducer.
Transducer efficiency is defined as the ratio of the power
output in the desired form to the total power input.
E=Q/P
Q = power output (desired form)
P = power input
E = Efficiency

HUMIDITY TRANSDUCERS

What is a Humidity Transducer:

It is a device that is used to measure humidity. The
amount of water vapor in the air.
The amount of water vapor in air can affect human
comfort as well as many manufacturing processes in
industries. The presence of water vapor also influences
various physical, chemical, and biological processes.

Operation:
Humidity transducers can transform a physical quantity
of air humidity into a standard signal which is
transferred to a controller.
Humidity transducers can be connected to a separate
control unit. This allows to generate alarms or turn off a
ventilation system when the predefined max. and min.
values are exceeded.

Types:
Relative Humidity - the total amount of water vapor
present in a given volume of air
Absolute Humidity - the measurement of the current
absolute humidityrelative to the maximum at a given
temperature.
Specific Humidity - the ratio of water vapor to the total
mass of the system (dry air plus water vapor).

Application:
automotive industry
climate control
data loggers
humidity monitoring
