Container Freight Station (CFS):

A shipping dock where cargo is

loaded (stuffed) into or unloaded (stripped) from containers. Generally, this
involves less than container load shipments, although small shipments destined to
same consignee are often consolidated.
Initially all sea import consignments loaded in Big Cargo Vessels (Ship) are arrived
and unloaded at Main Sea Port Terminal, One of the biggest Sea port Terminal in
india is situated in Mumbai named as JNPT.
Picture given below is pertaining to JNPT Nhavasheva, Mumbai Sea Port Terminal .

Afterwards different Containers are being transferred from Main sea port to Different
CFS Locations to Facilitate the Importer for taking smooth delivery of the shipments
and to avoid huge congestions of Sea traffic at Main port Terminal like JNPT.

One of the CFS Location Building is shown in the Picture given Below.

Cargo Containers arrived from Main Sea port in CFS shall be unloaded/stored in
different sections like Bulk Cargo section Medium cargo Section & Light Cargo
Section Through different type of material handling equipments like Cranes, Battery
operated trucks, Forklifts etc..
A typical Warehouse arrangement in CFS Locations is shown in the picture below.

CFS plays a vital role in speedy clearance of cargo at Sea Port Terminal hence CFS is
treated as one of the most important link in supply chain management.
Basically the following activities are being carried out at CFS location:
