Victoria Peak
• With an altitude of 522 meters, it is the highest
mountain in the island
• Although originally a telecommunications facility,
its high-value residential land and public parks
have given its name as "The Peak"
History
• The peak attracted early Europeans
settlers as early as the 19th century, but
back then people used sedan chairs to go
up and down the hill so development was
slow.
History cont.
• Until the Tram Service began in 1888, and this lead to a boost in the
residences on the peak.
• But between 1904 to 1930 the peak was an exclusive residential
