School Leaders 2015

Our School Captains, Vice
Captains and House
Captains for 2015 have been
announced.
A large number of Year 5
students were nominated for
a formal leadership role.
Following the democratic
process, we listened to
speeches, held preferential
voting and counting. We

would like to
acknowledge the time and
effort put into the process
by students and teachers.
The students were
dedicated to modelling
school values and
committed to making
LPPS an even better place
to learn. There exists
many opportunities for all

our students to lead,

model our values and
contribute ideas on a
regular basis. Further
leadership positions will
be announced early next
year, so if you missed out
this time, rest assured,
there are still many
important positions
available.

Carpark Update
Yes, the carpark is still in the
planning stages. Yarra Ranges
Council is managing the project on
behalf of Launching Place Primary
School. One last test, on the school
grounds, is required in order to
determine how the construction of

the car park will affect the large tree

along the fence line. This was
completed on Wednesday. I have
included a plan of the carpark that
was presented to School Council last
week. We have noted some
modifications to present to the

designers before plans are finalised. I

believe that works will commence
early in term 1. The project must be
finalised by the end of the financial
year.

learning.

endeavour and qualities. We look

forward to seeing and hearing about
the Year 6 students successes as they
progress through their secondary
education and beyond. We would
also like to wish every Year 6 student
the very best in the years ahead and
strongly encourage all of you to come
back and visit us.

Time to Celebrate
2014 has been a busy and eventful
time at LPPS, with much energy going
into the education of our students, so
they gain those important life-long
skills and knowledge. Our
appreciation and thanks goes to all
members of our community staff,
members of committees, classroom
helpers and volunteers for their
fantastic help and support over the
year.
We are extremely appreciative of the
efforts and hard work of all
volunteers; your contribution adds

The end of the year is a time for

celebrations and also a time to say
farewell to students leaving our
learning community. I would like to
bid a fond farewell to our fabulous
team of Year 6 students. Our 2014
School Captains Zoe and Will must
both be congratulated for their
outstanding leadership commitment,

Parents and Friends

Prep: Prep have had a busy week

preparing for Grade 1. We are
practising handwriting and big kids
maths. We are getting very good at
diary writing and writing on full
sentences. We cant wait to meet our
new teacher and celebrate finishing
prep with a special video.

Grade 3/4: This week we revised the

reading strategies in CAF. We
enjoyed doing the workshop to learn
the bush dance performances and
had a great time. We had a great day
at the Warburton bike ride and are
super excited to meet our 2015
grade and teacher.

Grade 1/2: We have been revising

all strategies in CAF and enjoying
a range of Christmas literacy
activities. We have finished our
Maths focus groups on addition and
subtraction. We finished our
weather unit by watching Cloudy
with a chance of meatballs and
drawing our own food weather
picture. We are really looking
forward to meeting our teacher for
next year.

Grade 5/6: We are busy getting

ready for graduation! The grade 5s
have all been working hard to get
ready for different leadership roles
for 2015. Well done to all the kids
on a great bike ride last Friday.
Principal: The second last week was
busy with Bushwahzee teaching us
lots of dances and songs for our
Bush Xmas. The week ended with a
bike ride for years 3-6 to Warburton.
We had lots of hot tired students and
staff.

Congratulations to all the winners at

for the Christmas raffle. May you
enjoy your prizes.
Thank you to all the LPPS school
community for supporting our
fundraising efforts this year towards
new playground equipment. And
your support either on P&F team or
elsewhere.
We hope you and your family get to
relax and enjoy what this Christmas
and New Year brings. Please be safe
on the roads if your planning to get
away, or even if your doing day trips
around the valley. And we look
forward to seeing all your faces in
2015.
