IBorders AdvancedManagement Product Overview
IBorders AdvancedManagement Product Overview
Government agencies need fast and reliable systems to help them identify undesirable travelers while granting fast
and trouble-free entry to the legitimate majority. SITA iBorders AdvancedManagement is uniquely positioned to help
governments enhance security through advance risk analysis, while improving processing of low-risk travelers.
ISSUES
G
overnment agencies are faced with increasingly
sophisticated security threats, while also dealing
with budget constraints and rising traveler numbers.
Government agencies need to make risk
assessment and take action as early as possible,
by identifying potentially illegitimate travelers in
advance of travel.
Manual clearance is time consuming and, with
growing traveler numbers, results in congestion at
the primary line.
T
raveler data is held in various systems and
applications, lacking consistency in content, format
and protocols. This means that data quality is poor
and makes data difficult to process and share
between different government agencies.
L
egislation has been established in many
countries, including the European Union, to limit a
governments access to traveler data. This creates a
conflict between security requirements, i.e. the need
to obtain traveler data, and travelers privacy rights.
ProDUCT
use caseOverview
SITA solution
iBorders AdvancedManagement allows for intelligent
risk assessment in advance of travelers arrival,
extending the border to the point of departure and
allowing destination governments to deny boarding,
if required.
B
y automating the biographic data check in advance
of travel, iBorders AdvancedManagement reduces
the delay in clearance through pre-flight screening.
iBorders AdvancedManagement provides
government agencies with high quality, detailed,
standardized records for each traveler. The
system stores the structured data for viewing,
visualization and searching.
iBorders AdvancedManagement filters traveler data
to remove sensitive data fields to ensure that only
data allowed by privacy legislation is accessible
by governments.
benefits
Enhanced border security - allows sophisticated risk
assessment to identify known and unknown persons
of interest who require further screening.
S
trengthened policy enforcement by presenting
multiple agencies with high quality, structured data
to analyze and make collaborative decisions.
I ncreased return on investment through automation
of the analysis and clearance processes.
Reduced number of ineligible travelers entering or
departing the country through traveler screening
prior to flight departure.
Expedited traveler processing for the majority
of low-risk travelers through pre-clearance
and automation.
Improved trade and tourism through operation of a
world-class border management system.
components
SITA iBorders AdvancedManagement comprises modules ranging from data acquisition and storage systems
to sophisticated tools that provide intelligent risk assessment in advance of a travelers journey. They can be
implemented as self-contained systems or as part of a fully integrated solution, including integration with
customer watch lists and Primary Line systems.

iBorders AdvancedManagement APP Advance Passenger Processing (APP) acquires travel documentation at
check in and performs data quality checks. The data is then sent to a business rules engine that makes checks
against government watch lists and provides real time boarding directives based on rules defined by the
government agencies. An expected movement record is created and used to facilitate faster clearance of low
risk passengers and targeting of identified persons of interest.
iBorders AdvancedManagement API Advance Passenger Information (API) acquires travelers biographic data
in the form of batch flight manifests, generally at or shortly after aircraft departure. API data is stored for risk
assessment by government agencies. It is similar to APP in terms of the data acquired but does not provide a
real time boarding directive or apply error detection.
iBorders AdvancedManagement PNR Passenger Name Record (PNR) is the complete set of booking data
captured by airlines. A PNR contains the travel record of a traveler or a group of travelers and includes
ticket and itinerary data, frequent flyer numbers, special request and payment information. iBorders
AdvancedManagement PNR acquires the PNR data from Reservations systems (in advance of travel or at
flight close) and checks, normalizes and stores the data. In addition, check-in data - seat numbers, baggage
information etc, is acquired from the airlines Departure Control System and is combined with the PNR data.
Risk assessment is then performed on the combined data by government agencies.
iBorders AdvancedManagement Visa SITA iBorders AdvancedManagement Visa is an electronic visa application
and issuing service which manages visa applications at the point of sale or reservation.
iBorders AdvancedManagement ExitEntry (not shown in the diagram) integrates biometric and biographic data
capture and verification systems to provide governments with a complete Entry Clearance System. Biometric
and/or travel document data is acquired at the Primary Line, and checked against watch lists.
The system records border movements and issues visas and permits if required.
