HOMEWORK CHECK
Explain why Galens ideas were so
important for over 1000 years after he
died. [7]

RELIGION The Church said his ideas were

correct so there was no need to investigate any
further. Galen believed the human body had been
created by one God. This led the Church to ban
DISSECTION which meant no one could check or
challenge Galens ideas
WRITINGS Galen wrote many books, covering
every aspect of medicine and including the work
of earlier doctors, like Hippocrates. It seemed he
had covered everything and his work was not
challenged. He had ALL THE ANSWERS.
