Summary: ,,The Devoted Friend by Oscar Wilde

Once upon a time there was a poor, honest man named Hans.
He had a lot of friends but the most devoted one was Miller. Miller was
rich and used to say a lot of quotes about friendship. Hans had a
garden, that was the only source of money to him. As Miller was his
best friend , Hans was giving him a lot flowers and fruits every
seasons. When the winter came, Hans was living really bad, but Miller
didnt visit or didnt help him. After the winter he came to his friend.
Hans needed a wheelbarrow, and Miller gave him his one, but after this
Miller manipulated his friend (with a lot of quotes and phrases about
honesty and friendship) to give him flowers and to do a lot of work for
him. One evening when Hans was sitting by his fire side, Miller enter
his house and asked him to went to the doctor cause his boy has fallen
off a ladder. Hans, as a good friend went to the doctor, even if it was
rainy, dark and cold outside. When Hans arrived, asked the doctor for
help and they started to go to the Miller s home. Hans wandered off on
the moor, which was full of deep holes, and there he was drowned. His
body was found the next day. Everybody went to little Hans funeral and
said a lot of good things.
Moral of the story
I think that the story suggests us that friendship is something
respectable that shouldnt be based only on material wealth, and as it
includes two people ,it should be favorable for both of them, not only
for one cause a true friendship means mutual help.
