Makes8Buns

Ingredients
5cupsallpurposeflour
2cupswarmwater
1tablespoonyeast
VegetableOil

Procedure
1. Placetheflourintoalargesizedbowl.Slowlypourthewaterintothebowlwhile
stirringtheflour,dothisuntilallthewaterhasbeenpouredin.Thedoughwilllook
shaggybutholditsshapewhenpinched.Itwillalsobewarm.Kneadthismixture
intoaroundshape,continuekneadingforatleast10minutes.Thedoughshouldbe
smoothandsomewhatelasticwhendone.
2. Afterkneading,coverthedoughandplaceitinawarm,draftfreeplacetorisefor2
hours.Anovenwiththelightonworkswell.Thedoughshouldrisetodoubleits
originalsize.
3. Putthedoughonalightlyflouredsurfaceandkneaditfor5moreminutes.Then
separatethedoughinto8evenlysizedpieces.
4. Kneadeachoftheseballsintoaround,dinnerrollshapeforanother2minutes.
5. Oilthebottomsofeachofthesebunssotheydontsticktogetherandplacetheminto
thesteamer,leavinganinchbetweeneachone.
6. Putthesteamerwiththebunsinitbackintotheovenwithjustthelighton(orany
warm,draft-freeplace)sothattheycanriseagain.Dothisfor30-40minutes.
7. Whenthisisdone,startsteamingthebuns.Todothis,firstboilthewaterinthepan
atthebottom.Placethesteamerontopofthepanwhenthewaterstartsboiling,
keeptheheatonhighandletthebunssteamfor12minutes.
8. Makesurethatthewaterunderthesteamerdoesnotrunoutasthatwillburnthe
buns.Letthebunsstayinthesteamerforatleast5moreminutesaftertheyaredone.
Theywillbearoundtwiceaslargeasbefore.
9. Takethebunsoutandservethemwarm!
