Introduction
Doc Daneeka is the squadrons physician and friend of
Yossarian. Before the war he had his own practice that
was later interrupted by the draft. First to introduce the
concept of Catch-22.

He utilizes Doc Daneeka to express his perspective towards war,
self interest, fear, and bureaucracy.
o He illustrates that even doctors in this time period were
selfish.
o Throughout the book, he has multiple chances to ground
soldiers.
o Fear of his superiors and flights were his ultimate downfall.
o Hes technically dead on paper.
Hes there also as a redemption story.
o During Milos bombing, Doc Daneeka runs into battlefields
saving Yossarian and others.

Selfishness
-Refuses to help Yossarian (helps him once)
- Goes on about his own issues You think youve got problems, Well I..
-Doesnt repay Yossarian after he falsely enters his name on the flight log

Loneliness/Alienation
-Although he is alive, hes dead on paper and to the other men
-Resent him, gave Colonel Cathcart reason to raise required missions
-Isolated from the other men, no one cares
-Wife refuses to acknowledge his presence & moves away.

Stance on War
Blames the war for his wife leaving him.
o She gets money, runs away.
Accomplishes nothing.
o Doesnt help people, loner.
Had to leave his medical business.
