Navigating the Tiers of Certification, presented by Dr. Robin L. Smith

Where do you fit in Georgia's new tiered system? This session explores the
transformation of Georgia's certification system to the new four-tiered system and how RESA
can support initial and continuing certification of professional educators.
(Registration form is found in this issue.)

Workshops
These fast paced, information packed workshops will include something for everyone. So pack

your paper, pens, iPads or laptops and come prepared to attend these
learning packed sessions.
Workshops:
1. Golden Opportunities- Learn about all the Golden Opportunities available to
our members through the innovative leadership workshops, professional development
seminars, and easily accessible grants.
2. Technology Tips for Teachers- Members of the Technology
Committee will share many tips for using and navigating technology in
your personal life. Be prepared to be amazed.
3. It Doesnt Take Barbells to Strengthen a Chapter - Energize your chapter
with new ideas about how to pinpoint chapter strengths and weaknesses and build on the
chapters strengths. Join this session to learn about growing membership and engaging
members to ensure a strong, vibrant chapter
4. Classy Communications- Bring your laptops and enjoy a hands-on session filled
with communication tips. You will learn how to create a chapter website and how to
publish creative chapter newsletters.
5. Like a Girl- Navigate through a multimedia journey of images, clips and text as you
learn what it means to do things like a girl. You will experience what power females
havenot only as girls throughout the world but as members of Delta Kappa Gamma.
6. A Week as Missionaries on a Navajo Reservation- Come join two Psi State
members as they share their journey as educators and missionaries on a weeks trip to
visit the Navajo. They will share their experiences and glimpse of real life on a
reservation.

The mini market will be open for business during the convention. This is your
chance to display and sell items to raise money for your chapter. We will have plenty
of vendor spaces.

Navigating the Tiers of Certification, presented by Dr. Robin L. Smith
Where do you fit in Georgia's new tiered system? This session explores the transformation of Georgia's certification
system to the new four-tiered system and how RESA can support initial and continuing certification of professional
educators.
Dr. Robin L. Smith began teaching in Kottweiler-Schwanden, Germany, at a small
Montessori School in 1992. Twenty-three years later and still loving education,
Dr. Smith is the Professional Learning Coordinator for the Middle Georgia Regional
Education Service Agency (RESA), which serves the eight Middle Georgia school
systems with a wide variety of services such as school improvement, leadership,
and professional learning. Dr. Smith has taught in a range of academic settings
including the elementary, middle, and college levels. She studied Early Childhood Education at Mercer University,
Supervision and Administration at Georgia College and State University, and Curriculum and Instruction at Argosy
University in Sarasota, Florida. Dr. Smith is a member of Gamma Omicron chapter.
