Professional Experience Viva! Choices - Marysville, CA Founder and CEO October 2004 to Present In 2004 I began working on the business plan for Viva! Choices, a business that would help Baby Boomers and their parents to age in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. My experience as the administrator of a retirement community where adult children lined up in front of my office daily to speak with me about what they could do for their parents, weighed heavy on my mind. For over four years I had been working on solutions to the problems I had seen and experienced first-hand, and the fact that I knew I would never want to be in a position to have to use many of the existing services available motivated me all the more. In 2008 two investors committed to investing $500,000 each, but they backed out due to the bad economy. Developed the business and marketing plan along with marketing materials. Hired consultants and oversaw logo and website design and developed the model. Spent ten years and thousands of hours on research and development personally invested $150,000. Ongoing experience working first-hand with seniors helping them to stay in their homes. Recruited the Chief Financial Officer, Administrative Assistants and Service Providers. Acquired an office and set up all administrative policies and procedures. Developed the organizations mission and value statements. Viva! Choices, cont. Sarah Summer Jackson, B.S. Wrote a training manual for business owners to better understand the market and a guide with links to important resources for adult children. Filed trademark documentation. Set up and wrote the entries for the organizations social media and blogs. Developed and gave presentations to adult children and to potential investors. Created a new professional called an Adult Life Guide and developed the training. Developed a service provider network. Did presentations to Coldwell Banker presenting a potential partnership where their agents would be trained to become Boomer Residential Specialists (BRS) and developed the training. Moved up through the ranks of Coldwell Banker all the way to the Director of Special Markets in New Jersey who said the training was a no-brainer and he was prepared to act, but the company was bought out by a private equity investment company a month later and he was nowhere to be found. This partnership would have provided the money to roll the model out. Worked on a Harvard University pilot program with Care.com. Was recommended to Life and Leisure Television as being the most innovative aging program in the country by the American Society for Aging. Became a Certified Red Cross Caregiver Trainer and held Caregiver Training Events.
