Studies on Heat Transfer augmentation

of Phase Change Materials for Building

Cooling Applications
Abstract
Thermal Storage system is paid special attention from the
viewpoints of energy efficiency and effective utilization of
available energy. The scope for incorporation of Phase
Change Materials into different building materials is
analyzed. The variation of Heat Transfer Co-efficient/
Thermal Conductivity for different materials is studied.
However, it should also be made sure that the addition of
PCMs to building materials doesnt significantly affect the
load carrying capacity of the material. The temperature of
the room has to be stabilized for the comfort of human
beings, which could be done when PCMs are utilized such
that it stores heat during the day time that could be
released during the night. An Experimental setup is to be
created in the form of a cubicle within which the daynight cycles are simulated and thermal properties are
analysed.
