3.4 Estimation of Operation Cost

In the estimation of the operation cost, we are taking the average salary for the semiskilled factory worker including their total number of working days in a month and total number
of working hours in a day based on Malaysia Employers Federation (MEF) salary survey for
Executives 2013. The information is as follows:
Minimum salary of smi-skilled production worker = RM 731
Maximum salary of smi-skilled production worker = RM 1,869
Average salary for factory worker

= RM 1300

Total working day per month

= 24 days

Total working hour per day

= 8 hours

Standard labour cost in Malaysia = 130000/ (24days x 8hours x 3600s)

= 0.188 cent per second

Estimation of operation cost

= standard labour cost (cent/second) x operation time

3.5 Calculation of Design Efficiency

Design efficiency is calculated by a formula:
Design efficiency

= (3 x NM) / TM
= (3 x 16) / 361.66
= 0.133
= 13.3%
