patterns and proficiency in specialized
movement forms

Students are expected to demonstrate correct grip, form, and

execution of a forehand stroke

Assessment Evidence:
Students are expected to demonstrate correct grip, form, and execution of a forehand volley in the sport of
tennis. These essential movements in executing a correct forehand will greatly improve the chance of
catching your opponent off guard making it easy to score quick points. Students should also develop
understanding of the appropriate time to use the forehand volley in a game like setting.
Opening Hook:
I will ask students if they have any prior experience playing tennis. I will also state random facts about
tennis such as when and where it was first created, how long a professional match usually last, how many
grand slam tournaments there are in a year, etc.
Instructional Strategies/Student Activities:
At this stage in the lesson I will properly demonstrate how to perform a forehand stroke using cues so that
students may grasp and remember the technique quickly.
Students will be grouped into pairs while practicing the forehand stroke.
I will give students feedback on what they are doing correctly and point out pitfalls in their execution to help
them be more successful in the lesson.
I will also be using a checklist as their final assessment.
Materials/Resources:
Racquets, Tennis balls, Wall
Grouping Patterns:
I will number of 1 and 2s throughout the whole class to match up as pairs
Ending, Summary/Reflection:
At the end of my lesson I will conduct a whip around where I will call on students at random for them to
quickly and verbally share one thing they learned in class.
