Dear Mr. Mahanna:
I am very excited to apply for the second grade teaching position in the Filer Elementary School District. I
have been looking forward to this opportunity for quite some time. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Elementary Education and earned my teaching certificate for the State of Idaho. My experience
consists of many hours volunteering in the classroom, 3 years of substitute teaching, as well as
completing the student teaching program. I have volunteered in Ms. Audrey Larsens classroom, whom
has become my mentor, over the past 3 years. Between my education and Ms. Larsens mentoring, I
have gained many valuable skills. I am confident in my ability to provide an education and curriculum that
will fit every students needs.
As my teaching profile shows, I am dedicated to my studies. I also strive to become the best educator that
I can be, while meeting each students individual needs. I have passion toward educating elementary
aged children due to my own experience of being a mother. I love watching my own children learn, so my
reward as an educator is seeing the spark during the moment of understanding in other children.
As a substitute teacher, I have had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten through 12 th grade. This has
given me experience with a wide range of students, all with different types of learning abilities. During my
time being a substitute teacher, I have also received praise from other educators for classroom
management, professionalism, and my compassion towards students. I am able to provide the necessary
tools in my lesson plans for every students learning style. I am able to keep my students interested and
focused on the topics being taught. I truly enjoy the challenge of creating a curriculum that fits every
student as an individual.
