LEANING STEERING MECHANISM IN TWO WHEELER

ABSTRACT
Over 35% of accidents caused in India are from two wheelers. The main
cause is due to the statical instability of the vehicle. On a two wheeled motorcycle,
it is difficult to maintain balance at low speeds or to brake during rainy weather or
in slippery surfaces. But we know that motorcycles are vastly more practical in
cities, especially for solo travelers than cars.
Our aim of the project is to design and fabricate a leaning steering
mechanism attachment which converts a normal two wheeler to a three wheeled
motorcycle by attaching two front wheels with individual suspension.
A leaning three-wheeler is a three-wheeled vehicle whose body and or
wheels lean in the direction of the turn which increase stability. Such vehicles can
corner safely and comfortably despite having a narrow track. It also improves the
ride ability in city traffic. It can be applicable in both commuter and cruiser
segments. Due to the tilting, there is not necessarily any load transfer between the
wheels in cornering.
