FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

Four-wheel steering (or all wheel steering) is a system employed by some vehicles to
improve steering response, increase vehicle stability while maneuvering at high speed, or to
decrease turning radius at low speed. In most active four-wheel steering systems, the rear wheels
are steered by a computer and actuators. The rear wheels generally cannot turn as far as the front
wheels.
OBJECTIVE

To allow for the rear wheels to be steered in the opposite direction as the front wheels
during low speeds. This allows the vehicle to turn in a significantly smaller radius, sometimes
critical for large trucks or vehicles with trailers
BREIF METHODOLOGY

The four wheel drive system consists of vehicle Setup with gearing arrangements to turning
the vehicle. At high speeds, the four wheel steering system avoids skidding in cars taking higher
and sharper turns using rack & pinion gear system. And at slow speeds, the four wheel steering
system helps in reducing v turning radius by 21% which has its applications in parking etc. For
parking and low-speed maneuvers, the rear Wheel steer in the opposite direction of the front
wheels, allowing much sharper turns. At higher speeds, the rear wheels steer in the same direction
as the front wheels.
EXPECTED OUTCOME

It is more stability and less body lean during fast lane changes and turns because the front
wheels don’t have to drag non-steering rear wheels onto the path.
THREADMILL DRIVE
INTRODUCTION

While working out in the gym people use treadmill for the purpose of jogging and running.
The main drawback of treadmill is that it is stationary. That becomes boring for user to run in a
still surrounding with natural exposure to environment. Similarly cycling in the conventional way
is common and not possible for all age groups as old people prefer walking. Even for travelling
short distance people prefer vehicles that cause pollution and wastage of energy in terms of fuel.
So, we came up with the concept of walking cycle.
OBJECTIVE

Treadmill can be used for jogging and for interval training which develops strength and
endurance. Through this project we have to do treadmill commuting vehicle.
BREIF METHODOLOGY

One of the most popular types of home exercise equipment is the treadmill, which provides
a straightforward, efficient aerobic workout. The working of the treadmill cycle is majorly based
on the principle of conversion of the linear motion applied by the human being on the treadmill
into the rotary motion of the wheels with the help of gear system and motor mechanism. In addition
to the liner motion applied by the human being. As the human being moves straight ahead on the
treadmill it causes the belt to move in the anticlockwise direction when seen form the left. The
rollers will also move in the same direct ion as the belt. And also energy can produced by dynamo
which is coupled with gear.
EXPECTED OUTCOME

It saves fuel thus helping in saving the natural resources. Lastly, in this metropolitan world,
people are ignoring their health and fitness. This cycle would be a boon for such fitness deprived
people having hectic schedule.
ELECTRICAL BIKE
INTRODUCTION
Energy is one of the most vital needs for human survival on earth. We are dependent on
one form of energy or the other for fulfilling our needs. One such form of energy is the energy
from fossil fuels. We use energy from these sources for generating electricity, running automobiles
etc. But the main disadvantages of these FOSSIL FUELS are that they are not environmental
friendly and they are exhaustible. To deal with these problems of fossil fuels, we need to look at
the non-conventional sources of energy. Energy Requirements of E-Bikes.
OBJECTIVE
To upgrade a conventional electric powered bicycle to Solar-Powered Electrical Bicycle
that can be used for leisurely rides.
BREIF METHODOLOGY
This project is a way of using the outgoing power and producing from wind solar panel.
The concept of the project is providing ease to the rider while riding a bicycle and also to conserve
energy by all possible means. When the solar power bike is kept under sunlight then the solar rays
charge the battery through the solar panel placed above the carrier of the bicycle. The battery
powers a hub motor in the front wheel. It also lowers the resistance in pedaling to make it easier
to go up long drive. When there is no sunlight, the bicycle can be charged by mains electricity.
The solar power bicycle approach is different.
EXPECTED OUTCOME
It is very much suitable for young, aged, handicap people and caters the need of
economically poor class of society. It can be operated throughout the year free of cost.
AUTOMATIC GEAR SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
Motorcycles are widely used around the world particularly in INDIA. For the vehicle to
move forward the engine has to be connected to driving wheels so as to propel the vehicle. The
engine rotates at relatively high speeds, while the wheels are required to turn at slower speeds. As
such, the engine has to be geared down permanently to the driving wheels in some fixed ratio.
Moreover the torque requirements of the vehicle vary as per the prevailing conditions. Gear box
provides different gear ratios between the engine and the driving wheels, to suit the varying road
conditions such as when climbing hills ,traversing rough road or sandy road or pulling a load. The
required gear shift for providing varying torque requirements can be obtained either manually or
automatically.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of our project is to automate the gear transmission in a gear featured
bike to ease the driving and also to maintain the efficiency of the bike.
BREIF METHODOLOGY
This project covers development of an indigenous gear shifting /changing system for the
standard motorcycle. By this system the manual mechanical gear shifting will remain unchanged
because an additional electromechanical system is placed on the top of the lever to shift the gear
and automatically control the clutch. So the system has the option for automatic. DC motor is
coupled with lever through chain drive. If the driver operates clutch it automatically rotates
clockwise, it makes the gear increasing as well as anticlockwise for neutral.
EXPECTED OUTCOME
By implementing this system into an auto-clutch feature bike, automatic transmission of
gears while driving the motor bike can be achieved.
