Mark 14:22-25
While they were eating, he took a loaf of bread, and after blessing it he broke it, gave it to them,
and said, "Take; this is my body." Then he took a cup, and after giving thanks he gave it to them,
and all of them drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured
out for many. Truly I tell you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I
drink it new in the kingdom of God."

For those of us who are members of a Disciple congregation, we are very familiar with this
passage, because this is a vital ritual within our worship service. So as we contemplate and pray
how we can remember to practice Jesus teachings in our everyday life, we want to thank God for
giving us this beautiful ritual.
Living in this world and truly practicing Jesus teaching is not easy because there are always
things going on that require choices. Most of them are routine and are just a part of every day
activities, but then choices arise that are not that simple. Then we need to stop and think, even
though it maybe is something that occurs very often. So it is these tricky occurrences that cause
us to pause and contemplate.
By attending church worship regularly and actively participating in its activities, we enhance our
ability to make good choices. When we make good choices we usually are keenly aware that we
do and that contributes to make our everyday life much happier and more pleasant.
Dear God, thank you for sending Jesus and giving us Communion to help us to try to remember
and to practice His teachings.
In His name we pray. Amen.
