We celebrated Martins Birthday!

Happy 6th Birthday Martin!

and
We settled back into school routines

In Language:
We celebrated Spring. We discussed the Spring equinox as being the day that
night is as long as day. We looked for Signs of Spring including melting snow,
flooding, wind, dirty streets and sidewalks, (slightly) warmer temperatures and
more hours of daylight. We wrote about how we will use the longer dayswhat we
will play OUTSIDE! We discussed Spring as an in between season. Its not
summer but its not winter. We need to watch the thermometer and dress
accordingly for being outside for 40 minutes at lunch. Some days we STILL need
hats, mitts, snowpants.
We continued to practice using Stretchy the Snake reading Bob Book #3, Dot,
and sounding out unfamiliar words.
We continued Our Catholic Seasons which augments our preparation for Easter.
We continued to set the stage for the elders of the church to be so annoyed and
jealous that Jesus is a) teaching and b) performing miracles that they want Him
dead. We completed a Parable booklet on The Good Samaritan and The Lost Sheep.
We studied the events of Palm Sunday and acted out our own version.
We continued our Snuggle Up and Read Program.
Miss Mason read The Highest Number in the World and the children had to draw
a hockey jersey with a number on it.
Dalien the Alien has had successful sleepovers. His parents report from outer
space that they are thrilled with his earth education. This week he learned about
being a big sister at Lilys house. As Sam has just recovered from the flu, Dalien
will learn about his house next week.
Gym: We played Easter games. We opened exercise eggsand then did the
exercise within! We ran an Easter Egg relay, a Easter egg Spoon relay and we
played Easter Octopus and Go Home Chickens!
Religion: We learned that Jesus taught by telling Parables. We learned about the
Good Samaritan and the Lost Sheep. We learned that God wants us to treat others

as we would like to be treated and that every one of us are very precious in the
sight of God and He has no desire to see any one lost.
We learned about and acted out Palm Sunday.
We continued our Lenten Puzzle of Good Deeds. Thank you to those who have sent
in notes about Good Deeds you are seeing at home so we can reinforce them in the
class! We end the day on a high by reading your notes!
Science: We studied the Spring Equinox.
In Art: We continued on with the Spring Equinox theme (despite the snow Friday
Morning) and created spring flowers using bubble wrap. The bubbles created a
wonderful opportunity for the students to print and create their own patterns and
individual flowers.
In Music, Drama and Dance: Kept on listening to the Alice in Wonderland
soundtrack which created many spontaneous dance parties and moving our feet to
the beat especially during lunch, in particular we really liked the entrance music for
the White Rabbit. Additionally, we began to listen to music to see what song
inspires us enough to use it for our Dancefest song!
In Mathematics: We continued with money. We reviewed coin recognition and
value. We put various amounts in our wallets and then counted how much money
we had. We put various amounts in our piggy banks and then counted up how much
money we had. We chose what coins we would use to buy given toys.
In Personal and Social Development: We settled back into school routines. We
discussed the difficulties of changing gears. It was more difficult for some than
others to transition from holidays with lots of mommy/daddy time back to school
routines. We discussed that its okay to feel like wed rather be home, but that WE
are large and in charge and we can overcome these sad feelings..and we did !
In Inquiry/Directed Play: Maybe it is the fact that Spring has arrived, but there
seems to be some magic happening again in the classroom! In the last few days
Fairy Feathers have AGAIN been found in the classroom, suggesting that the

school fairies are back even though they never truly left the hearts of many! It
is going to be exciting to see where this discovery leads us this time.
