What's That On Your Head?

By Mary Perrin
What do the words party, sun, winter, cowboy, and
baseball all have in common? They are all types of hats.
There are many other types of hats, too. People wear
hats for many different reasons. Hats are meant to cover
your head. Hats worn properly will protect your head. A
hat will protect your head from the sun, wind, rain, and
snow. Hats keep your head cool in the summer. They
also keep your head warm in the winter. Hats come in
all shapes, sizes, and colors. There are times when
wearing a hat is acceptable. Then there are times when
you should not wear a hat. For example, you should
take off your hat when you are indoors, while the
national anthem is playing, and in other situations when
you need to show respect. What kind of hats are in your closet?
