How to Make a Coat of Arms
Long ago medieval knights carried colorful shields. The shields were decorated with
designs called coat of arms. The symbols on a coat of arms described the knights
acts of courage and bravery.
You can design your own coat of arms. First sketch a large shield. Then divide the
shield into four sections. In the upper left-hand section draw a picture of your
favorite pet or a wild animal you specially like. In the upper right-hand section draw
a picture that represents a sports or hobby you enjoy. In the lower left-hand section
draw something that represents what you want to become a scientist, a doctor, a
teacher, a lawyer, an artist? In the last section, draw a picture of your favorite
flower, tree, or fruit. Your completed coat of arms describes you.

Have you tried flying a kite? How do you feel flying a kite? Who made the kite for
you? Can you make a kite of your own? If not, here are the steps on how to make a
big beautiful kite.
First, get two bamboo sticks about two feet long. One must be about one and a
half centimeters in width and thickness. The other bamboo must be about 1cm in
width and half cm in thickness.
Pull the string to make the stick bend and tie the other end. You have now a bow.
Get the middle of the bow, fit it about three inches from one end of the first
bamboo stick, in cross-like fashion, and tie it with a string. Your kite skeleton is now
in place.
Tie a string from both ends of the bow to the end of the bigger bamboo stick. You
can wrap your kite skeleton with Japanese papers or cellophanes of different colors.
Do not forget to add wings on the two lower sides of your kite and a tail at its
lower end.
Attach now your brand new kite to a pool of yards string and try to fly it. Kites fly
well on windy days.
