Activity 6a: Discussion points

Each group should do the following using CBN data from their assigned woreda, as found in the Tigray
database:
1. Check the quality of the data:
Is the data complete?
Does the data appear likely to be correct? (No. children weighed = NW + global UW?
Are numbers fairly consistent from month to month? Etc.)
If problems are found, what actions would you take to recheck or correct the problems?
2. Check for trends in the data:
What trends are found from month to month in participation, UW, and SUW rates?
Are the trends what would normally be expected? If not, what irregularities do you
see? What possible reasons can you suggest for the irregularities? What actions
would you take to check and correct the irregularities observed?
Are woreda review meetings being held every quarter? How is HEW participation?
Are kebele review meetings held each month? How is CHW participation?
What trends are seen in the CHW reporting rates? What relationship is seen between
CHW reporting rate and other indicators?
3. Based on the data, what actions should each woreda pursue to improve program performance?

1. Using the data provided, create 3 graphs in PowerPoint.

2. Look at the graphs created. Describe the trends in percentages of UW and SUW children, and in
GMP participation.
3. Analyze the data. What are possible causes of increases or decreases in the prevalence of UW/SUW?
Are there any data points which appear to be incorrect? Based on the data presented, what actions
should be taken?
