Dear Maam,
Rabies continues to be a public health problem in the Philippines. According
to the World Health Organization, the country is one of the top 10 countries
with rabies problem. The viral diseases is responsible for the deaths of 200
to 300 Filipinos per year. Every little action that will eliminate this disease
will surely help our nation in uplifting the health and well-being of the
people.
The world all over will be celebrating WORLD RABIES DAY on September 28,
2014. In this line with this, the Supreme Student Council desires to celebrate
with the rest of the global community by facilitating a One La Salle AntiRabies Campaign. As the only Lasallian Institution that offers the Veterinary
Medicine Program, we ought to lead all efforts in eradicating this lethal
disease. We intend to conduct a nationwide anti-rabies vaccination in the
local areas where a Lasallian institution is present. We will partner with the
Student Councils of each DLSP-member school to be able to incorporate
them in our advocacy and to gain commercial sponsors that can help
produce the materials collaterals which will help boost the activity.
This event will beneficially impact not only human health but our pets
health as well. We are looking forward to your usual support in an activity
such as this which will draw out the strength of our University. Likewise, the
brand of Lasallian Veterinary Program will nationally be promoted as we
bring to the fore our great students and our great animal care. Thank you
very much!
