Lesson Plan

A. Factual Information
Name: Anne Bernalyn Liwanag
Day, date, and time of lesson: Thursday, March 11th 2015
Grade and level of students: Grade 2, Cycle 1
Brief description of students: I have not taken charge of this group yet. Therefore, this will be the first
time I take on their class. I have observed them for the past 2 weeks and they are noticeably chattier than
any other group. They require a lot of classroom management but they are able to stay on task for the
most part.
B. Objectives and Problems
Topic area/theme: Winter animals (Story: The Mitten)
General aim: Introduce students to key elements (vocabulary) related to the story.
Specific objective(s): By the end of this lesson, the students will be able to understand and use the
given vocabulary to complete the given tasks.
Evaluation criteria

Use of words and expressions from texts.


Demonstration of understanding of oral messages.
Use words, string of words and short expressions.

Related content/essential knowledge: (from the QEP)

Anticipated Language: Grand-mother, grand-daughter, winter, mitten, rabbit, fox, raccoon, owl,
bear, mouse, warm, cold, snug, snow, white
Anticipated problems
Problem: Students will not understand the story of The Mitten

Solution: The teacher will take time to explain the story as she reads. She will have them guess words
that are unfamiliar to them with guiding questions or cues.

Problem: The students will finish the acitivity quicker than anticipated.

Solution: The teacher will tell them to finish unfinished work from their English duo-tang.

Problem: Students will not be able to grasp the key elements (vocabulary).

Solution: The teacher will demonstrate the vocabulary using gestures to better explain the meaning of the
vocabulary. The teacher will also use pictures to illustrate the specific vocabulary.
