Upgrading to Adobe Premiere 6.

Recommended Upgrade Instructions

Canopus recommends that you uninstall Premiere 6.0 and peform a clean installation of Premiere
6.5. Then run the installer for your Canopus software plug-ins, and it should find the new clean
installation of Premiere 6.5 and allow you to install Canopus’s Premiere plug-ins.

If for some reason the Canopus installer can’t the find Premiere 6.5 folder after performing the
clean install outline above, you can still enable the Premiere plug-in installation option and
proceed as normal with the install. This installs the Canopus Premiere plug-ins into a folder within
the Canopus Edit (DVStorm, DVRex RT, etc.) folder on your hard drive. Follow the workaround
directions below to transfer the plug-ins to the Premiere 6.5 plug-ins folder.

Workarounds

If you have decided you do not want to uninstall your previous version (not recommended), your
new version of Premiere may not recognize your previously installed Canopus plug-ins. Follow
these instructions to activate your Canopus plug-ins.

1. Find the Premiere 6.0 plug-ins folder on your hard drive.

2. Copy/paste the plug-ins (not the folder) into the Premiere 6.5 plug-ins folder.

3. Launch Premiere 6.5 while holding down the Ctrl and Shift keys. This deletes your Premiere
preferences file and creates a new one. Because of this, you’ll also have to reset any custom
preferences, such as scratch disks locations, that you may have had set previously.

Sorting by Company Name (Windows 2000 and XP only)

On Windows 2000 and XP you can sort the Premiere plug-ins folder by Company to make it
easier to find the Canopus plug-ins.

1. Open the Premiere plug-ins folder.

2. Change the folder view to Details. This lists all the files in your folder by name, size, date
modified, etc.

3. Right-click on the blank column header and select More in the pop-up menu. The Column
Settings dialog appears.

4. Enable Company Name from the list and click the OK button.

5. The blank column should now say Company Name. Click on the Company Name column to
sort the list by Company Name.

6. Now you can easily find all the Canopus plug-ins and drag them to the Premiere 6.5 folder
