The biodiversity of the Philippines is oneof the most phenomenal among

otherterritoriesintheworld.Inspiteofitssmalllandareasurroundedwithwaters,
this createddifferentvarieties oflifefrombirds,mammals,reptiles andevento
flowers.Itissodiversethatmostofthenewfoundspeciesareonlyendemicinthe
PhilippinesandeveryyearnotonlyFilipinobutevenforeignbiologistscontinuetheir
explorationsfornewspeciesinthePhilippinerainforests,studythemandintroduce
thespeciestoscience.Thishighbiodiversityofthecountryisnotwellacknowledged
and not given full attention. Due to lack of dissemination and educating its own
people,thiscausestragicthreatsforsomeofthespeciestobecriticallyendangered
withoutbeingfullyaware.Fewexamplesofthesecriticallyendangeredspeciesare
theTamaraw,thePhilippineEagleandthePhilippineCrocodile.Thesearejustsome
speciesthatarefewstepsawayfrombeingextinctifnottakenseriously.Writtenin
textbooks,studentsknowtheseanimalsexistbutonlyanumberhaveseenthemwith
theirowneyes.Itisverysaddeningthattheownpeoplelivinginoneofthemost
diverseterritoriesintheworldmightnotgetthechancetoevenhaveapeekofthese
animalsiftheycontinuallydontactonsavingtheseanimalsfromextinction.
OneofthemostinterestingfactsthatIlearnedpersonallyfromknowinghow
diversethePhilippineswasitsrichfloraandfauna.Itissaidthateveryyearthe
numberofthenewfoundspeciesinthedifferentpartsofthecountryisincreasingand

increasing.ThePhilippinesissodiversethatitevenoutnumberedtheendemicand
speciesfoundinUnitedKingdomandevenBrazilsmajesticAmazonrainforest.Itis
enthrallingthatthissmallislands keepstheprecioustreasuresonlyfoundintheir
placejustwaitingtobediscovered.
EveryFilipinoisinvolvedandmustbeinvolvedinlearningtheamazingand
richbiodiversityofthePhilippinesinwhateverfieldhemaybe.Theaspectthatheis
Filipinoisvalidenoughtoclaimawarenessofitslandsriches.Beingawareand
spreadingconsciousnesstoitspeopleisperhapsoneofthesimplestwaysinbeinga
partofsavingthecountrysrichtreasures.Beingexposedintherealityofnotonly
knowingbutalsoputtinganactinpreservingthesegivenecosystem.
