Kamila today we enjoyed making individual life cycles as well as a giant one to go on
our wall. Throughout this activity you had lots of great ideas for what could make an
egg as opposed to using felts or crayons from foam right through to cotton ball. Your
friend Zaina shared a short clip when everybody got stuck with what happens between
chrysalis and butterfly which was very helpful. After the group poster was completed
you took the lead explaining the stages to everybody as Nusayba pointed out different
aspects.
Review of learning
I enjoyed observing and supporting you create, innovate and construct today Kamila,
you have always been a confident girl. Throughout this particular craft you were
strengthening hand-eye co-ordination, fine motor skills, spatial awareness,
colour/shape, mathematical language, scientific vocabulary, pro-social communication.
This activity is a reflection and revisit of previous learning and will support assimilation
as you share and explain it to family. At the end you demonstrated confidence,
courage, trust and responsibility as Nusayba and yourself explained the stages to your
other friends.
I was most excited to see you see this through to completion Kamila, a lifecycle of a
Monarch Butterfly can take approximately 6-8weeks of observation. It is great to hear
you share new observations you make when arriving and leaving An-Nur as well as
when you tell your mother what we noticed during the day,
Where to next?
I have noticed throughout this focus you are very interested
in nature and creating working theories of your world
Kamila. I want to offer you more opportunities to explore
different aspects of nature through free play. This will allow
you to set your own goals which I can encourage you to
see through to completion hopefully a project.
