AN ABSTRACT

As media communication we have already known what is languages. We use that thing
every day in our life as human being who interact with each others. Exactly, that is the function
of language. Every people in this world have their own language for communication. Because in
this world divided into some tribe, region, culture, etc. that make differences each other. On
terms of further developing language as communication support is literature. Generally, the terms
of literature is some kind of work art that used language as media. Not only as seen from
beautifully point of view art, but literature have to contain value inside and moreover useful as
learning medium in our life.
Movie is one of literature product that always use and enjoy by every people in this world
today. Besides interesting and entertain movie easily accepted by every people. Therefore, the
authors are interested in doing research on a movie which title Life of Pi by ang lee.
This research method was done by study about an appreciation in the form of film which
plays important role in understanding literature. In addition the purpose of this research is to
know or to study the main character which in some event on Life of Pi movie that was doing
by students of fourth grade in STKIP English education program in responding to the nature of
main characters in the face of conflict, how the storyline, and what moral message to be had and
applied in the daily life, as well as respond how the role of each character in the film in question.
