The Blythe Park School PTA hosted a Bicycle Safety Day where students learned bike safety at five stations, including riding bikes in different situations. Officer Brian Greenenwald from the Riverside Police Department bike patrol spoke to the students about bike safety and observed them riding around a mock road course. Officer Greenenwald emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and following traffic rules just like in a car. The event provided an opportunity for the children to learn bike safety skills before the summer.

Blythe Park PTA Invites RPD to Speak on Bike Safety
RPD Bike Officers Help With Bike Safety Day The Blythe Park School PTA hosted their Bicycle Safety Day on Wednesday April 22nd during the physical education classes at Blythe School. The Bicycle Safety Day allowed Blythe students a chance to visit five stations where they were taught how to ride a bicycle in different situations. Officer Brian Greenenwald, a member of the Riverside Police Department bike patrol, was on hand to talk to the kids about bike safety and watch as they biked around a road course complete with stop signs and hand signals. The Blythe Park School PTA invited me to speak to the students about bike safety and the rules of the road. I made sure to tell the kids how important it is to wear a helmet when riding their bikes this summer and to follow the rules of the road, just a like a car would. This was a great event that gave the kids a chance to learn about bicycling ahead of the warm summer months, said Officer Greenenwald.
