Albany County Safety Seat Check Program Successful

Once again, Albany County has held an eye-opening child safety seat check with 91 seats checked and only one had been installed correctly. This is another example of parents and caregivers doing the right thing by having their seats checked only to find out they were being used improperly, said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. Albany County will continue to offer such free events to make sure that each and every child is safe. Todays Safety Seat Check is one of the largest in the northeast and featured Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians from around the Capital Region. Additionally, 15 seats were replaced after being deemed unsafe or recalled and one seat was given on loan to accommodate a special needs child. The seat check program was held in the Garden Center Parking lot at Sears of Colonie Center and was sponsored by Albany County, Albany County DPW Traffic Safety Education Program, Capital Region SAFE Kids Coalition NYS Governors Traffic Safety Committee and Sears of Colonie Center ###
