Suggested Time: 2 or 3 50 minute class periods
Instructional Objectives (2-3):
Students will create a 2D pattern pot.
Students will create a coil pot from their 2D pattern pot
Students will use inspiration from a foreign culture

Art Production:
1. Introduce learning targets
2. Show examples of african pottery
3. Demo drawing pots and patterns
4. Have students draw a vase.
5. Have students create patterns on the drawn vase.
6. Have students cut out their vase
7. Collect, clean up and line up

Modifications / Special Notes / Drawing


Students with special needs will have a precut vase provided to decorate, and have
appropriate accommodations during the creation of the coil pots.
Students who finish the pots early will be instructed to paint or glaze their projects.
