Plural, Singular Possessive, and Plural

Possessive Nouns
One of the purposes of apostrophes is to tell a reader when a noun is in
possession of another noun.
Plural-
More than one, but doesnt indicate possession.
(I have a lot of
computers.)
Singular Possessive
- One noun possessing an object.
(The computers hard drive
broke.)
Plural Possessive
- Multiple nouns possessing an object, or multiple objects.
(The
computers hard drives are broken.)

We can sometimes use apostrophes instead of words like


HAD, HAS, and HAVE

Example 1:
The car
HAS A
steering wheel. The cars steering wheel.

Example 2:
Students
HAVE A
responsibility treat themselves well. A
students responsibility is to treat themselves well.

REMEMBER:
Cover the apostrophe and any letters to the right of the apostrohe
with your index finger. If the word that remains is singular, you have a
singular
possessive.
If the word that remains plural with the apostrophe covered, you
have a
plural possessive.

lakes freeze in the winter.
2. Zoes
hair was a different color every month.
3. Natalies
job at the local newspaper is going great.
4. Kids
have better days when they eat a healthy breakfast.
5. The
trash cans
smell reached down the hall.
6. The
lunch rooms
