Currents and Drifts

of the Oceans, 1910

The trade winds

allowed ships to
move faster, but
also decided
when certain
things could be
moved across
the seas.
The winds
moved toward
the equator and
poles.
The winds
moved between
North America
and Europe,
which would
have been
beneficial.

Ocean currents
moving between
the continents
would have been
valuable in
expediting trade
However, if you
needed to go
against the
current to go
somewhere, it
would be
increasingly
difficult as the
currents grew
stronger
Trading from
northern Asia
would have been
slower because
there is limited
current there.

Triangle-Trade Route

This was a very

efficient way to
trade between
Africa, North
America, and
Europe
In trading
between these
three continents,
many diseases
were also traded.

CCC Analysis:
Compare: Each of these maps showed the trade route possibilities between
Europe, Africa, and North America. The movements of goods vs the direction
of wind or ocean currents were correlated.
Contrast: Each of these maps showed a different aspect of the trade (water
currents vs what goods were traded).
Conclude: Trade was a massive part of the economy for all three of these
continents. Very efficient ways were found to expedite the process of trading
goods via sea.
