This website is detailed on the political view of the massacre. The site is organized in
chronological order from Chinese government evacuating to 20,000 rape victims. The Chinese
military fled the city or disguised themselves as civilians to avoid capture. This site paints a vivid
picture of the circumstance of China during the massacre.

This book is one of the most complete sources on this topic. Chang gives statistics, testimonies,
and the reasons for the disregard of the event. This book is a great source for my memorial
because it gives testimonies from the survivors. I want my memorial to accurately describe their
physical and emotional pain and this book will definitely help me shape it.

This video interviews Iris Chang, author of the Rape of Nanking. In the video, Chang addresses
Japans disregard for the massacre and how students today are not taught about their war
between America. Chang explains the political and educational view on the massacre. My
memorial would be made to bring attention to Japans mistake, how it happened, and the fact that
Japan still has not officially apologize. I want to make this monument not only for the victims,
but also for students who are not taught of this holocaust.

This site gives a better view on the background and actions taken after the event. Reading this
will help me better my understanding on the history of the massacre. It give who was leading,
what their orders were, and how they were punished. I will be able to use this information for the
description that will be placed by my memorial.

This forty-five minuet film goes into great depth of the history of the Rape of Nanking.
This doumentary shows pictures and reenactments of the massacre itself. Also, i tells of the
reasons and details of what happened, who did it, and why. This is a key source I can use to help
me recreate the horror of the event in my memorial.

This site gives more perspectives on the genocide and many ways victims were liquidated. The
site shows a timeline of events and facts on how events occurred. I will use this site to
understand factually and emotionally how the massacre happened. I can also use the forms of
liquidation to help the vision for my memorial.

This site is a testimony of the horrors the Japanese brought to Nanking. John Rabe was a German
businessman who lived in Nanking. He witnesses the raid, looting and shootings while protecting
innocent Chinese civilians. This will play a big part in my memorial piece because he goes into
detail of the great atrocities of the massacre. The fear and chaos he explains will definitely be a
focus in my memorial.
