Practicing with the SOs
The first day we had our first systematic observation was
confusing yet very important to know. I remember how we were
looking at a specific video were a teacher was giving a lesson to
students. I had to observe whether or not the students were getting
some activity, management, or instructions. This specific systematic
observation was called Time Analysis; we had to observe for every 15
seconds if 51% of the students were doing what they were suppose to
be doing or not. I remember the first minute I was a little strict on the
grading, and I realized this so I was still very cautious on my grading
but I tried to keep it how I saw things. The next systematic observation
I had to do was called SOFIT. For this I had to observe one student at a
time for about 10 seconds and determine whether or not that student
had MVPA for 5 or more seconds. The first student I observed was not
active in the beginning due to management and instructions from the
teacher, but once the instant activity and lesson started that student
was more active. The second student I observed was more active and
this is simply because my observation was during the activity. I did
realized that the student was not active during some seconds but that

is because she was waiting for the other students to do the activity
correct. Overall, I felt like I have learned a lot from these two sheets
and I will continue to improve my grading as the days go by.
