Kidspiration shapes project!

This lesson will last about an hour to give students a


chance to do some research and do presentations.

Lesson
This project is created to assist students in
Overview/Rational successfully identifying different shapes and

comparing them to objects of similar shaped that they
see in their everyday life such as stop signs, bicycle
wheels, and books. It also integrates technology
which gives students basic but essential computer
skills.

Identify different shapes and how characteristics
that belong to that shape such as the number of sides
it has
Describe everyday objects that resemble shapes
such as a stop sign.
Utilize Kidspiration to create a visual diagram

Technology Uses

This lesson utilizes computers for the purpose of


creating an organized diagram. The website that the
students will utilize for this project is Kidspiration,
which is a concept-mapping software designed for
young children to build visual diagrams.

Assessment

1. Have students log into Kidspiration


2. Students will create an organized diagram that
consists of three different shapes with some help of a
teacher
3. They must also identify how many sides each shape
has
4. Students will also attach a picture of an everyday
object that corresponds to that shape. (ex: a picture of
a book to correspond with a square.)
5. Students will print out their project
6. Each student will present their project in class
