Henry VIII Biography

Christian Blandford
Hi, my name's Henry Tudor. Henry the VIII that is. I am the son of someone you
may know named Henry VII and I take a little pride in that. I was born June 28, 1491 as
the second heir to my father right after my brother, Arthur, the Prince of Wales. I did not
expect to ever become king until Arthur fell ill when I was 11. He got the sweating
sickness, and died in April of 1502. Although I was depressed over the death of my
brother, I was also partly excited to become king. Very soon after my brothers death, it
was planned for me to marry his wife, Catherine of Aragon. Negotiations of the marriage
lasted a very long time because my father had refused to pay the dowry needed to secure
her hand. This caused turmoil between Spain and England and I couldnt marry her until
after my fathers death and finally on June 11th, 1509 I took Catherine as my bride.
Just before the marriage, I became King Henry VIII, and I needed to get myself an
heir. 2 years later, my wife finally gave birth to my first son, who died within 2 months.
This brought huge sadness to my life and I hid my grief by going to war with France. Not
much came of this war, however, and I was soon ready to try for an heir once more and
still, no son. I soon starting to hate my current wife, and I found new love for a girl names
Anne Boleyn. After failing to make me a legitimate heir, what was left of my love for
Catherine expired and I sent a letter to the Pope down in Rome asking for a divorce. To
prevent the Catholic Church looking bad, he declined my request. Of course, I became
very angry when I received his letter back. I instantly got a team of the smartest people I
could find working to find a way that I could divorce my hideous wife with my good
friend, Thomas Cranmer, among them. Thomas wrote a document stating essentially that

the pope had no power and that I could do whatever I wanted. I quite liked this idea and
had no trouble making it official due to the fact that it meant my divorce. The only issue
that came from this document was that I was excommunicated and all of England was put
under Interdict. Some people did not take kindly to this at all so I simply had those
individuals executed. Anyway, my marriage with Anne had become sort of rocky lately

her Elizabeth. It seems that no matter how hard I try I cant get my wives to make any
heirs for me. Soon after this, I start hearing rumors of my wifes unfaithfulness. This
infuriates me and I have her tried for treason and she is executed by an imported French
swordsman. I then fall for Jane Seymore and 48 hours after executing my ex, I was
walking down the aisle once again. Seemingly days after the marriage, she gives birth to
my new heir, Prince Edward! I was ecstatic over his birth but my love died due
complications during birth. I very much needed a new wife and sent some people to find
me one. They brought one back for me to marry and when I looked at her, I felt that she
belonged in a stable, eating hay and being groomed by my servants. I married that ugly
horse but our marriage didnt last long as I speedily got her out of my life. I tried again
with marriage and scored a young woman also named Catherine. Once again, rumors
reached me that my wife was cheating around and I knew for sure this time, that these
rumors were true. I had her head chopped off for treason and I supposed I should try one
more time. I married Catherine Parr who took care of me in my old age and helped my
leg, which had now become infected and oozed puss constantly. I feel terrible now day
after day, and I feel that death may soon find me
