Weber State Admissions Board

Dear Weber State Admission Board:

I am submitting my application for the Weber State Interior Design Program that
starts August 15, 2015. After research of schools in the Valley I have chosen to
attend Weber State.
I have done interior design projects for family and friends that have all loved the out
come of my work. I have done kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, bedrooms, garages,
and landscaping. This along with my drive to succeed makes a BSA in interior design
the next logical step in obtaining my goals.
I have enclosed a copy of my resume, transcripts and past works. With my
qualifications and past experience as well as my drive to become the best I think that
I would be a good fit in your program. I can be reached via phone, or email at your
convenience if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks,

Edward Roberts

TABLE OF CONTENTS
This is the Technical Description of a coffeemaker that was assigned in week 12 of
this class. It is an outline about the parts and operation of the coffeemaker.
This is a set of instructions outlining the interior design process. This was a required
assignment for week 13 in this class. In this document I go over the different steps
that it takes to complete a project in the interior design field from beginning to end.
This was a memo that I wrote that talked about the strengths and weaknesses of the
presentation given by randy Paunch. The presentation was called Achieving your
childhood dreams. This was an assignment that was for week 6.
This is my resume that outlines my past accomplishments and achievements. It
gives a brief look into my life from a career standpoint that allows for an accurate
judgment of my qualifications to the job or school that Im applying for. This
document was assigned during week 13.

Technical Description of a Coffeemaker

Introduction:

3
A coffeemaker is an electronic devise that is used to make coffee. This is a
technical description of a coffee maker in this article I will address the different parts
of a coffee maker and there functions. Coffeemakers are a normal household item
that can be bought at pretty much any store. They come in all shapes in sizes. They
range from industrial to single person use, and everywhere in between.

4
There are many parts to a coffee maker and all of them have their own independent
function that is needed to make the coffeemaker work. In the photo above the
different parts are listed and shown.

Parts and Process:

The filter basket lid is at the top of the coffee maker and serves to keep things
out during the process of making the coffee and during storage. It also houses the
showerhead and cover. There is a smaller door towards the back on the top of the
basket lid that allows for easy filling without lifting the whole basket lid. This comes
in handy when the coffee maker is already running.
The water reservoir holds the water that is going to be used to run through
the coffee grounds to produce coffee. It serves as a holding tank. The water is then
pumped from the water reservoir to the showerhead.
The shower head is a like a shower head in your house in that it takes a
steady stream of water and breaks it up into smaller streams. This is to even spread
the water over the coffee grounds so that the grounds are evenly saturated and
allows for better use of the coffee grounds that are in the filter basket.
The purpose of the filter basket is to hold the coffee grounds and filter paper.
The water from the shower head is sprayed over the coffee grounds and as gravity
does its job and moves the water through the grounds. The water then becomes
coffee. The filter is there to keep the grounds from leaving the filter basket.
When the Coffee leaves the filter basket it is collected in the in the coffee pot
or decanter now the coffee is ready to be drank. The coffee pot can hold anywhere
from one cup to 12 cups of coffee depending on the machine that is being used. This
allows the person drinking the coffee to have multiple cups of coffee without having
to wait for more coffee to be made. There is also a heating plate under the coffee pot
or decanter that is used to keep the coffee hot while it is waiting to be consumed.

Conclusion:
The Coffeemaker is an easy to use device that requires no extensive training
in which to operate. They are relatively cheap to very expensive depending on your
needs of this device. There are a lot of pieces to this device but none of which you
have to have a knowledge of how they work to be able to produce coffee in your
home or place of business.

Re:

Review of Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

I watched Achieving Your Childhood Dreams by Randy Pausch on YouTube. The strengths
that I noticed in the presentation are as fallows.
He was excellent at keeping the audience interested in what he had to say.
He used jokes and random props to keep the audience on its toes.
The presentation was thought out and well planed he didnt stammer or get lost in what
he was going to say.
At the beginning he addressed what the presentation was and wasnt going to be about.
After the presentation he readdressed his main points on what he wanted you to take
away for the presentation.
Even though I believe that presentation was far better than anything I would have been able to
do. The assignment was to include the strengths and weaknesses. So I had to actually think
about what could be done to improve this presentation.
The beginning of the presentation started out a little slow.
There were a couple of slides that I dont think were actually needed.
He seemed to go off on a tangent sometimes that had nothing to do with what he was
talking about.
The one video of the assignment that was done was way to long about half way through
I actually fast forward through it as I found it to be quite annoying.
