instances or locations.
Enmity
Role Overview
Templars are hardcore frontline
fighters whose main role is to protect his
party members by taking most, if not all,
of the enemies' brunt. Their unrivaled
defense rating, HP, healing and
protective skills ensure that Templars are
toughest and most resilient class in the
game. As tanks, they serve as the party's
"meat shield", drawing enemy aggression
towards himself holding aggro while his
team mates deal damage. This will allow
the party's ranged and spellcasting
members to safely provide support at a
distance and decimate enemies. Templars
also
have
self-healing
and
self-preservation skills that is very handy
in easing up the burden of the healer.
Templars are party-oriented; you need a
templar on almost every group-based

Choosing a Race
Elyos Templars vs
Asmodian Templars
As mentioned earlier, they both have the
same skill sets - except for some skills.
One example would be the unique DP
skills each faction has. These skills use DP
(Divine Points) which in turn can be
obtained by killing various mobs or
players. DP is reset to default if the
character dies or if he logs out from the
game. The differences of these skills are
described below. Both skills deal damage
and increase enmity at the same time.

Strengths and
Weaknesses
Templars have the highest defense
rating in the game, thanks to their ability
to wear Plate armors and shields. Their
shields are not only used for blocking
enemy attacks or reducing damage but
also
allows
them
to
utilize
class-exclusive skills that knockback or
stun enemies, disrupting their offfense
and leaving them vulnerable for the
Templar's destructive chain skills or their
party member's attacks. They have
various buffs and skills that further
enhances their HP and defensive
capabilities, as well the ability to heal
themselves and their comrades when the
situation is dire. They can draw enemy
attention to themselves, giving their
Player Attitude
Playing as a templar does not only
constitute in-game skills and features but
the attitude of the player behind the
character. The playing style of the player
will definitely affect how effective this
specific class can be. Generally speaking,
templars are expected to remain calm even
in the midst of adversity. There are a lot of
unexpected things that may happen, like
an unwanted mob pulled by somebody
accidentally, somebody from the team gets

Tips
- Always carry an ample supply of
healing potions, scrolls and food with you.
You won't have the ability to heal yourself
until the later levels so you'll need to rely
on pots to keep your HP up, especially
during tough battles and when playing
solo. Various scrolls and food will also
help you get out of tight situations, like
encounters with enemy players.

rally nearby adds and gang you up. Make
sure to pull them from a distance just to be

since they work behind the lines, guarded
by the bandits. The workers are
non-hostiles so you can slip past them and
get the relics if you want; just don't started
attacking any of them or they'll surround

they have short respawn times.
As a templar, you should be able to
handle enemies 1-2 levels above you so
long as you have the best equipment you
can get and fully socketed manastones.

Skill
Strategy/Usage
A templar's attack chain will remain
mostly the same especially during PvE
combat. Normally, a templar's combo
starts with Ferocious Strike - Rage or
Ferocious Strike - Robust Blow - Wrath
Strike, then followed by Weakening/
Dazing/ Blunting Severe Blow - Divine
Blow. The "Severe" blows inflict various
debuffs like reducing the target's attack
speed, defense etc. They all share the
same cooldown so its impossible to chain
them and inflict multiple debuffs. These
combos can be further enhanced by
learning advanced stigma skills.
This pattern will be slightly different if
you have a greatsword equipped since
you can have two greatsword-exclusive
skills (Punishment and Judgment). It is
possible to further extend this chain by
switching between two weapon sets, thus
enabling you to start the chain using
basic 1H (one-hand) combos then switch
to GS once Judgement procs after Robust
Blow, then switching back to 1H to take
advantage of shield procs.
Inescapable Judgement is a templar's
signature skill. It can literally "pull"
targets 15m from the templar towards
him, making it the most effective skill in

Weapon
Templars can use maces, swords and
greatswords. The first two are
one-handed weapons that will allow the
templar to attack faster and carry a shield
on the other hand. Greatswords are two
handed weapons capable of dealing solid
damage but will also use the offhand slot
for shields. Its attack sped is very slow as
well. Maces and swords are prime
choices because of their average damage
and faster attack speeds. Also, being able
to carry a shield gives them additional
manastone slots to use. Greatswords are
great for starting templars as they don't
have access to good shield skills at that
time.
However,
it
is
greatly
recommended to switch to mace/sword
and shield combo once they learn new
shield-based skills. Only templars use
shields for both attack and defense. Not
only shields give them additional
protection, this will also allow to them to

Accessories
Accessories primarily give boosts to
magical resistance and other stats. As a
templar, try to equip only the accessories
that complement your main stats or build.
For defensive templars, they will seek
accessories that boosts their HP, physical
defense and block. Offensive builds will
look for the ones that increase their attack,
accuracy and critical hit. It won't hurt to
equip accessories that boosts other
insignificant stats, especially if you don't
have other choices but if there are options,
prioritize the ones that further boosts your
key stats.

If you want some raw numbers or data
about the general game mechanics (like
how blocks, parry, critical hits, etc) are
calculated, you may refer to this link.
Manastones
OverviewManastones
are
enhancement stones that have fixed stat
boosts in them and can be inserted to
socketed items. You can attach them to
weapons, shields, armors, pauldrons,
leggings/greaves, gloves and boots. They
vary in stat boosts which increases
incrementally as you find them in higher
level forms. Basically, you can equip as
many manastones on a single equipment
as long as it has a free socket or slot. The
number of slots depends on the rarity of
the equipment. White gears will have one
sockets, greens have two, blues have 3
and Oranges have 4 or 5 slots
Attaching
ManastonesTo
attach
manastones, simply right-click the
manastone you wish to attach and "drop"

Enchantment Stones
OverviewEnchantment Stones can be
used to enchant your gears and further
increase their default stats. This method of
enhancing your gears can be pretty tedious
and expensive but its benefits are
something that you can't ignore. This is
true especially if you want to further
strengthen end-game gears. You can

Applying
Enchantment
StonesEnchantment Stones vary by
levels. These levels are used as a
reference to the level of the equipment
you wish to enhance. For example, if you
use a LV20 Enchantment Stone to
enhance a LV15 equipment, then you'll
have a higher chance of success
compared from working on a LV17
Enchantment Stone. Your equipment's
"required level" is also your equipment's
level. For gears acquired as quest
rewards, the quest's level where the gear
has been awarded from will determine
the equipment's level. I recommend

Crafting Professions
As a templar, your main assets would
be the defense boosts provided by plate
gears and added protection using shields.
Plate Armors and Shields are created
through armorsmithing so this is the
profession
you
should
master.
Weaponsmithing would be clearly your
secondary profession as your weapons
are created through this craft. You may
also consider learning some bit of
Alchemy for potions (perfect to have
ample supplies of healing pots, especially
when you're going solo) and some
Cooking as well (to have access to
various, long-duration buffs).
Builds
Most templars, especially those who
are group-oriented and tend to enter
instances or participate in group quests
will stack HP and Block manastones.
This setup makes the already sturdy
templar become even more resilient and
absorb considerable damage before he
needed to be healed or use his life saving
skills. The only downside however, is
that templars following this full
defensive build won't deal that much

The Abyss
This section will introduce you to the
basics in the Abyss, tips on how to
survive this very hostile place and to
know what you can reap during your stay
here.
What is the Abyss
The Abyss is the game's main PvPvE
location. Here, you'll be exposed to
various threats. Aside from world
monsters and the Balaur, there's also the
players from the other race to worry
about. There's no way of telling their
level and since there's no level cap in the
area, everything is fair game - including
you.
The Abyss is a free flight zone. Since
flight is an integral part of combat, travel
and survival, having a stock of wind
serums is necessary. You can also use the
Flight Rings situated in between the
major archipelagos to restore your flight
time and give you enough time to reach
the next island. The Abyss is divided into
three parts: the Base, Core and Upper
layers. Each layer has their own set of
forts and artifacts which can be occupied
by any of the two races or even by the
Balaur.

PvP as a Templar
Combat against NPCs and mobs won't
be that hard since they all follow
predictable, specific attack patterns.
However, fighting against another player
will surely put your skills to the test, as a
player and templar. You can engage in
friendly duels in the early parts of the
game, without any obvious benefits but
bragging rights; however you won't
experience real PvP until you reach the
Abyss. The Abyss is where you can fight
players from the opposite race and wage
war to capture strongholds or fortresses.
To access this, you must first reach LV25
and complete the Abyss Entry quests
(same quest for Elyos and Asmodian
players). After finishing the quests, you
should be able to use the Abyss Gates
found in key locations for each race.
Some of the best materials and
equipment in the game can be acquired
in the Abyss so you'll probably spend
more than there sooner or later. More
info about the abyss will be discussed in
the Abyss Section of this guide.
PvP as a templar might be challenging.
Not in a sense you can be killed quickly
but rather how quickly you can kill the
enemy player. Another problem that we
encounter would be how to keep our
target at melee range. This is true for
rangers and mage classes that will keep

Stigmas
There are a lot of stigmas available out
there, especially late game. The
following stigmas listed below are what
most players recommend, due to their
invaluable addition to your Templar's
skill arsenal. You may check the effects
and other details of these skills by

PvP Items
Consumables play a great role in PvP
battles. Without the necessary items in
your inventory, any combat may turn
against your disadvantage. Below are the
list of items you should consider bringing
along with you always, especially if you're
rifting or tackling the abyss.
Kisk - This is your temporary
resurrection point and will save you a
great deal of effort and time compared to
resurrecting at a town obelisk. This is a
must if you're rifting, exploring the abyss,
participating in sieges or simply farming/
grinding on a far off location. Make sure
to set it up on a safe location, probably on
very secluded areas or near friendly NPCs.

Templar
You'll be fighting against your own
class so there could be several factors
that may affect the outcome of the battle:
level (higher level means more/ better
skills learned), equipment, godstones and
the order of attacks. If you have better
equipment and weapon, then your
chances of winning will be a bit higher.
Activating key skills (Empyrean Armor,
Iron Skin, Healing Hand, Prayer of
Resilience, Unwavering Devotion, etc) at
the right time can also change the tide of
battle. Basically, there's no guarantee that
you can win against another templar if
you're at the same level or at least a
couple of levels higher or lower than the
other.
Gladiator
Glads are similar to templars in so
many ways but their main difference
would be the glads' massive damage
output, which is further complemented
by their skills. First, we must discuss
their
equipment.
Like
templars,
gladiators can wear plate armors which
give the best defense boost. Their
signature weapon is a polearm, though
they are considered weapon masters by

Ranger
At LV10, they'll get the skill called
Entangling Shot that decreases the
target's movement speed for 8-16s. Their
first DP skill will allow them to
transform into a Mau and will increase
their attack, attack speed and speed.
They'll acquire their first trap skill called
Spike Trap at LV13. This trap remains
active for 60s and when an enemy enters
its 5m radius, it explodes and
immobilizes the target, as well as
reducing its evasion. These traps are
invisible so if you happen to see a ranger
kneel down during your fight, it is setting
up a trap for you. You can avoid the trap
by simply not getting near its 5m radius.
At LV19, the skill Stunning Shot
becomes available to them. This skill has
the chance to stun its target. At LV20,
they'll have the chance to equip a stigma
skill called Sleep Arrow which puts a
target to sleep for 12 seconds. Upon
reaching LV25, their Stunning Shot will
obtain its chain skill called Rupture
Arrow that effectively staggers the target.
In the same level, the LV25 stigma skill
Silence Arrow can be equipped. They
will get stronger variations of their
original skills until they reach LV37
where they'll get more stigma skills and
normal skills. One is a LV37 chain skill
called Fleshcutter Arrow that decreases

Assassin
Assassins are known for delivering
fast, critical damage by wielding two
weapons, (dagger/ sword/ or combination
of both) and taking enemies by surprise
using their advanced stealth. Most of
their attacks engrave runes to their
targets which they can detonate or
activate with varying results, depending
on the skill. The most common rune that
they use is the Binding Rune which puts
the target into open/aerial state - similar
to the sorc's aether hold skill. They also
have various self-buffs that temporarily
increases their evasion and critical hit
chances for a few seconds. They also
have
skills
to
perform
deadly
counterattacks and even apply poison to
their weapons that may poison or stun
their targets. Assassins are the only class
that can increase their speed by 30% by
using their Sprinting skill. This self-buff
stacks with other speed bonuses provided

Sorcerer
Sorcs rely on mid-heavy ranged DPS
and various status altering skills but as
long as you get in close and keep
interrupting their skills, you'll have a
chance to win. Sorcs need to be
stationary to cast some of their spells but
you should also know that they have
instant-cast spells as well. It will be hard
to write down and discuss their DPS
spells so we will just highlight their main
skills that you should look out for. As
early as LV10, they'll have access to one
of their most useful skill; Sleep. They
can use this to escape an opponent or
better yet, to buy time for them to cast

Spiritmaster
The main problem is that when you're
facing a spiritmaster, its like having to
fight two people at the same time. Their
main attacks consisted of DoTs (damage
over time) skills, which will allow them
to use another spell while you
continuously receive damage. They also
have dispels that effectively removes
buffs on your character, as well as the
dreaded Fear status ailment which will
render you vulnerable to the SM's attacks
without being able to do anything. Like

Cleric
The main problem you'll have when
fighting clerics would be their number of
healing and recovery skills. They can
also kite and root opponents, as well as
having ranged spells. They can dispel
almost all status ailments you throw at
them
(except
stuns,
sleep,
knockdown/back, etc) with the help of
their skills or items. They have a wide
array of healing spells, making them hard
to kill. When fighting melee classes, their

Chanter
Chanters are like clerics at the early
levels; they're hard to defeat because of
their stuns and heals. The good thing is
that since they're a melee-class, you don't
need to chase them around unless they're
trying to escape or wait till your self-buff
wears off. However, chanters will get
stagnant starting from late 20's to the early
40's. They'll get better heals and mantras at
that time but not enough to consider them
as dangerous opponents until they get their
end-game skills. Their heals might not be
as potent as clerics but they can still hold
out to themselves unless your damage
output is higher and you keep interrupting
their skills.
At LV10, they'll get their first mantra,
the Victory Mantra, as well as Meteor
Strike that lowers the target's defense and
flight speed. Their 2000DP skill (elyos Yustiel's
Protection,
asmodians
Marchutan's Protection) doubles their
attack rating, enabling them to do burst
damage for 30 seconds. At LV13, they'll
get their first protective mantra called
Shield Mantra, their first DoT Word of
Revival and a chain skill called Booming
Strike that lowers the target's defense by
5%. Upon reaching LV16, they'll be able
to learn Promise of Earth that works like a
godstone; while this buff is active (30
mins), there will be a 10% chance to

Kinah making
strategy
Kinah is an integral part of your
gameplay. Almost everything in the
game requires kinah, like transportation,
soul-healing costs, consumables and of
course, buying new skills and upgrading
your gear. There are several ways of
earning kinah. The most common
method would be selling junks obtained
from defeated mobs or obtaining the
kinah they drop. However, relying on
these methods alone won't suffice in
keeping your upkeep. This is where you
should consider leveling up three
important abilities of your character:
Crafting,
Gathering
and
Aether
Extraction.
Crafting
You should consider focusing and
getting attuned to at least one craft your
class can use. Armorsmithing is useless
when mastered by a mage after all. The
advantage of having a learned skill is that
you can produce items on your own,
provided that you have the required
materials. Crafting items on your own is
a good way to save and make kinah.

Introduction
What is a Macro? It is a game
function that will allow you to compile
and execute a set of commands and
processes with a push of a button. The
most common use of macros would be
activating a chain of skills with just one
button (thus saving slots in your
quickbar)
Quick facts:
- You can only set 12 macros
- Each macro can only hold a
maximum of 255 characters
- You cannot chain macros
- Macros will be interrupted if the
individual conditions are not meant. (e.g.
not enough, mana, wrong target, no
target available)
