UTEP within the UT System


of Education
The UTEP community lacks awareness in the

cultural impact of the merging of two distinct


cities El Paso and Juarez.

Cultural tensions affect UTEP as an institution

through mutually constituitive discourses that


students are unaware of.

The objectifying gaze of dominant power translates

into the lives of individuals by labeling bodies as


either visible or invisble. (undocumented students)

Because of the geographical location, there are

certain social understandings on the education


UTEP can offer, therefore it is not equally funded.

Undocumented students are receiving unequal


treatment in attaining a higher level education at
a undergraduate and graduate standing.

Call for a change in the policies and opportunities

offered to under-privileged students.

Conclusion

There is a need to raise awareness on these

issues.
Demand for equality for all students to end all

forms of prejudice.
UTEPs resources in terms of funding is in need of

a reform, and in order to do so, action must be


taken in raising the awareness of students, and by
the UT system of education taking action.
