Use this checklist to check your work for common mistakes
before submitting it to your teacher. ORGANIZATION: I wrote my name, the date and the title at the top. ORGANIZATION: I used the questions for this assignment to write my rough draft and I checked to make sure I answered all of them. ORGANIZATION: I indented each paragraph. ORGANIZATION: Each paragraph I wrote has at least three sentences. NEATNESS: I wrote my final draft in my neatest handwriting. PUNCTUATION: I used the correct punctuation in each sentence. CAPITALIZATION: I capitalized the first letter of each sentence and all proper nouns. GRAMMAR: I did not use run-on sentences or start a sentence with and. GRAMMAR: I checked every noun for an Indefinite Article (a, an, the). Here are some examples; a tree, an elephant, the black spider, a blue igloo, an eye. GRAMMAR: I checked every sentence for Subject-Verb Agreement mistakes (singular or plural nouns and the verb). Here is an example with the corrections in parenthesis. The protagonist (s) is (are) Captain Underpants, George and Harold. GRAMMAR: I checked that each sentence was written in the correct grammatical tense. SPELLING: I checked the spelling of words that I was not sure how to spell. COHERENCE: I reread my assignment to make sure it could be clearly understood by the reader.
