London - the capital of Great Britain

London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. It is a
beautiful city with large squares and parks.
London is one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than 11 000 000
people.
The city is very old. It was founded more than two thousand years ago.
London is situated on the river Thames. Tower Bridge over the river Thames has become
an iconic symbol of London.
London has many places of interest. One of them is the Houses of Parliament, the seat of
the British Government.
Big Ben is the most famous clock in the world. It is a national symbol of the United
Kingdom, which strikes every quarter of an hour.
Another place of interest is Buckingham Palace. Its the residence of the Queen. This is the

The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace is one of the top tourist attractions.
Westminster Abbey is a church in London that is the traditional place of coronation and
burial for English monarchs. St. Paul's Cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of London.
Its impossible to describe all places of interest in London. The best way to know London is
to visit it.
