4th Grade Trip

Hello Parents!
Our FRIDAY, MAY 22nd 4th grade trip to the OCEAN INSTITUTE IN DANA POINT is
coming up soon!
PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING REMINDERS:
Students must meet at San Rafael by 6:15a.m. to begin boarding the bus.
The bus will leave at 6:30a.m. sharp. With traffic delays it takes about 2 hours to get
to Dana Point. We cannot wait for students who are late. Please arrive on time, as any
delays will affect our schedule of activities. We will depart from Ocean Institute at
3:00p.m. We will arrive at San Rafael Elementary School at 5:00p.m. Please be sure to
pick up your child on time. We hope to arrive by 5:00p.m., but it will be a Friday night
and Memorial Day weekend, so there may be delays due to traffic.
Please ensure that your child has a nutritious breakfast and brings plenty of snacks, a
hearty lunch AND more snacks, and water. All food/snacks should be packed in a lunch
bag or small backpack.
PLEASE DO NOT PREPARE A LUNCH OR SNACKS WITH ANY TYPE OF NUTS!
Please have your child wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, a hat, and sunblock.
Students should bring a light sweater in case it gets chilly. If your child may experience
motion sickness while on the tall ship, please have them take something to prevent
motion sickness before we depart from school. Students may bring a book to read or a
quiet activity to do while on the bus ride. No electronics allowed. We will not be held
responsible for lost or stolen electronic devices. Please leave these at home. Please
have your child take a restroom break at home, before arriving to school as we need to
depart promptly.

6:15a.m. Meet at San Rafael Elementary School
6:30a.m. Leave San Rafael Elementary School
9:00a.m. Arrive at Ocean Institute in Dana Point
9:30-11:30a.m. Sail on the Spirit of Dana Point
11:30-12:00p.m. Lunch
12:00-12:30p.m. Travel to Lazy W Ranch
12:45-2:45p.m. Gold Rush activities at Lazy W Ranch
3:00p.m. Depart from Lazy W Ranch
5:00p.m. Arrive at San Rafael Elementary School
