ActivistStatement:Poem
Appealingtoanaudiencesemotionsandfeelingsiscrucialinachievingasuccessful
protest.Byusingapoem,Iintendedtocreateasenseoffamiliarityandrelatability,while
maintaininga21stcenturytoneandexamplestoenhancethepoem.IalsousedanABBrhyme
schemetoenhancetherhythmandfluidityofthepoemfurther.Itriedtoincorporaterepetitionas
welltocreateasenseoftheomnipresentnatureofsocialmediainateenagerslife.Givenmy
topic,Ifeltthatitwasappropriatetoaddin21stcenturytermsintothepoem.However,Idofeel
likeitwasabittooinformal,butIstilldobelievethatIgotmyideasandpointsacross
effectively.
Therehavebeenotherslampoetrytypetiradesonsocialmediasuchastheinfamous
LookUpvideo,whichdoemploysimilartonesthatIemployinmypoem,soIfeltthatit
wouldbeappropriatetousethetonesthatIdid.IthinkIshouldhaveaddedmoredepthintothe
poembecauseIfeellikeitdoesntreallyhaveawowfactoranddoesntleaveanimpression
ontheaudience,butIdothinkthatitdoesthejobofshowcasingthedetrimentsofusingSocial
Mediainanobsessiveway,suchasneglectingonesparents.

Overall,Ifeellikeapoemhassomuchmeaningtoit,bothliteralandfigurative,and
bypassesanyruleorsolidmeaninginliterature.Peoplecancreatetheirowninterpretationsofa
poemwhilestillretainingthecruxofit,whichinmyopinionmakesthisagreatformofProtest.
